S14E6 - Setting the Scene for Sandy Lee Songfest

Episode Notes
The Sandy Lee Watkins Songwriters Festival has become a highly-anticipated summer staple in downtown Henderson . . .and this week, we're continuing our annual tradition of spotlighting it on "Blabbin' In the Bluegrass"!! Joining me at the table this week are Susie Watkins, the wife of the late great Henderson County Judge Executive for whom the festival is named, and Music City singer/songwriter Joel Shewmake (a returning favorite to Songfest who is no stranger to the event!). We'll hear a bit about Joel's music background, writing ventures, and the aspects of Songfest that keep him coming back. Susie will enlighten us on some new wrinkles that have been thrown into this year's schedule, familiar and not so familiar artists who will be appearing in the rounds, and the worthy beneficiaries of funds raised through the festival. And of course, we'll enjoy a couple of Mr. Shewmake's musical masterpieces, including one that he co-wrote for the legendary Brad Paisley! So mark your calendar for Wednesday July 29th through Saturday August 1st . . .and be sure to visit the Songfest website linked here to purchase tickets or obtain additional lineup info: https://sandyleesongfest.com/.
